Trent AI raises $13M to build multi-agent security

Trent AI, a London-based startup, has emerged from stealth mode on April 7, 2026, unveiling a groundbreaking multi-agent security solution. The company has successfully raised $13 million in seed funding, led by LocalGlobe and Cambridge Innovation Capital, with notable participation from angel investors including Joaquin Quiñonero Candela from OpenAI, AWS Director Avinash Bhat, Databricks’ Ippokratis Pandis, and former Spotify AI/ML Head Tony Jebara.

Founded in 2025, Trent AI is strategically positioning itself to fill a critical gap in cybersecurity as enterprises increasingly adopt autonomous AI agents. The company’s product stands out by offering a multi-agent security platform specifically designed for dynamic and agentic environments, rather than relying on traditional security tools that are often retrofitted for AI applications.

The platform operates through four specialized agents that function concurrently to ensure robust security. Scan agents continuously monitor code, infrastructure, dependencies, and runtime behavior to identify potential risks. Judge agents assess and prioritize signals based on their actual business impact instead of using predefined rules. Mitigate agents automatically patch vulnerabilities and validate fixes, while evaluate agents track risk trends over time and benchmark against established standards. This interconnected feedback loop enhances the system's accuracy with each cycle, ensuring a more proactive approach to security.

The leadership team at Trent AI combines extensive academic knowledge with operational expertise. CEO Eno Thereska has a rich background, having served as a Distinguished Engineer at Alcion (acquired by Veeam), AWS, and Confluent. Co-founder Neil Lawrence is a prominent figure in machine learning, holding the position of DeepMind Professor at the University of Cambridge and previously directing machine learning at Amazon. The third co-founder, Zhenwen Dai, boasts experience as a machine learning scientist at AWS and a Senior Research Manager at Spotify.

A recent survey by Deloitte referenced by Trent AI highlights a significant governance gap in the deployment of agentic AI: while 74% of companies plan to implement such AI within the next two years, only 21% have developed a mature governance framework for autonomous agents. Trent AI aims to address this disparity with its innovative solutions.

Several design partners, including Canopy, Commscentre, ML@Cam, Qbeast, and Weblogic, are currently utilizing the platform, showcasing its practical application and effectiveness. Furthermore, Trent AI is a partner member of the Open Worldwide Application Security Project (OWASP) and is collaborating with Carnegie Mellon University’s CyLab Venture Network as a startup partner.

In addition to its core product, Trent AI also offers an open-source security agent for OpenClaw, expanding its commitment to enhancing security in diverse environments. Saul Klein, co-founder and executive chairman of Phoenix Court, which is home to LocalGlobe, expressed optimism about the venture, stating, “this is the right time to build the long-term foundations of security for agentic systems.”

As the landscape of technology continues to evolve, Trent AI is poised to play a critical role in shaping the future of security for autonomous AI, ensuring that enterprises can safely harness the power of agentic systems.
