As news begins to trickle out about plans for the return of prominent sports leagues, like the NHL and NBA, the UFC continues to fill the void left by canceled games with its latest pay-per-view event, UFC 250. The fight will take place on Saturday, June 6, and like UFC 249, the event will be held without fans in attendance. The UFC's spectator-less matches could serve as inspiration for other leagues hoping to resume their seasons.
UFC 250 will be held at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the early preliminary rounds set to begin at 6:00 p.m. ET and the main card scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET. Headlining the main event is Amanda Nunes, who is the first and only woman to hold two UFC championship belts at the same time.
Nunes is the current champion in both the bantamweight and featherweight divisions. Saturday's match will be Nunes' first opportunity to defend her featherweight title as she goes up against Felicia Spencer. Spencer is an up-and-comer in the UFC after becoming a champion in a different mixed martial arts league, the Invicta Fighting Championships. In her three fights, Spencer has two wins by first-round submissions and one loss by decision to former UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg.
Other notable fighters entering the octagon on Saturday include Raphael Assuncao, who will go up against Cody Garbrandt in a highly touted matchup, and Sean O'Malley, who is widely considered to be one of the future stars in the sport.
